Local Histories Speaking to You!

Listen to stories, anecdotes and histories of Boroondara with the release of four new talking books on CD. The City of Boroondara Library Service has taken a number of popular local history publications, and in conjunction with Vision Australia, has produced a series of local history talking books. Various well known actors are used to bring these accounts to life and allow these publications to be accessed by people who enjoy the convenience of talking books.

When next visiting the library, look out for these talking book titles:

“Telling lives: locating and mapping the cultural heritage of Boroondara” by Sonia Jennings (with Jill Barnard), narrated by the library's very own Jane Nolan.

“Voices of Camberwell: from Alamein to North Balwyn” edited and compiled by Geraldine McFarlane, narrated by Beverly Dunn & James Condon.

“Faint Traces: Chinese in Hawthorn before the second world war” by Mary Sheehan and Diane Nicholas, narrated by James Wright.

“Clubhouse: a celebration of local sport in Boroondara” by Sonia Jennings and Mary Sheehan, narrated by Tony Porter.
